The central market of medina Rabat is the first central market built in the city of Rabat at the time of the protectorate. It was built on the eastern facade inside the medina, close to the Andalusian enclosure, so much so that the protectorate authorities had to remove part of the Andalusian enclosure to reveal the main facade of this market. Its construction dates back to 1928 during the protectorate period.
To this day, it is still considered one of the central markets frequented by the Rabat people, it has undergone in recent times a radical process of rehabilitation and restoration that has brought it back to its original form and preliminary designs.
